What will the apprentice be doing on site

EN:Able Futures, an award-winning apprenticeship employer, are partnering with Hi Point Access to support the delivery of housing repairs for one of our members, Sheffield City Council. We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Roofer to work with Hi Point Access and become part of their growing team.

Hi Point Access is one of Sheffield's leading scaffolding companies who have now expanded to deliver roofing repairs and maintenance.

Relevant information about the project

As an Apprentice Roofer, you will learn how to undertake the following day to day tasks:

• Removing rubbish and keeping the work area clean and tidy
• Removing or repairing broken slates and tiles
• Checking roof timbers
• Measuring and cutting materials to the correct size
• Cutting and fitting lead flashings around chimneys
• Tiling and slating
• Roofline joinery works
• Sealing roof joints
• Move, handle and store resources, complying with relevant legislation and guidance
• Select the required materials and resources to carry out the work
• Set up, check and operate plant and or equipment
• Install related materials and components to a given specification
• Use, maintain and store hand tools, power tools and associated equipment
• Access, interpret and drawings and specifications to carry out work
• Erect tower scaffolding

Essential qualities

• Work safely and be aware of key health, safety and welfare issues
• Ability to work at heights
• Plan and carry out their work to commercial standards of quality and speed
• Interpret and follow verbal and written work instructions from trade supervisors and site managers
• Demonstrate and knowledge and interest in becoming a roofer
• Be self-motivated and organised
• Ability to work under instruction from recognised Craftsperson
•Effective communication skills both verbal and written
•Effective Customer Care skills
• Must have a keen interest in the construction industry
• Willing to work towards a Level 2 Qualification
•Ability to undertake and necessary travel in connection with the duties of this post
• Expectation to achieve a full driving license (If you don't already have one)
• Ability to work on own initiative as an individual or as a team member
• Contribute to the development of good working relationships within the team

• Willingness to immediately attain a CSCS card (This will be fully funded)

Qualifications Required

GCSE in Maths and English Grade 3-9

Relevant information about the site

44 Hours Per Week (40 hours if apprentice is under 18 years old)
Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17:00 (4pm finish on Fridays)

£273 - £298.60 (dependent on age)
This wage is the National Apprenticeship Wage for either 40 hours or 44 hours per week, and both wages are inclusive of a £17 weekly travel allowance)
