EN:Able Futures, an award-winning apprenticeship employer, have partnered with Target Housing, a charity and social landlord, who are offering a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Electrician to join their team as an apprentice, and to gain valuable knowledge and skills whilst working in their housing properties.
Relevant information about the project
• Assist qualified craft personnel, learn and acquire the skills necessary to complete the following duties:
• Carry out electrical installations and repairs to the current Institute of Electrical Engineers (IET) wiring requirements and BS 7671
• Work from detailed electrical, specifications, design drawings and circuit diagrams
• Testing and inspection of electrical installations to current IET requirements, and take appropriate remedial action where required
• Work with a wide range of electrical installations and specialist equipment
• Learn to ensure that all electrical test certificates and reports are completed to specification and signed by the appropriate person ready for submission to Management for Verification
• Carry out diagnostic fault finding on a wide range of installations, equipment and apparatus
• Comply with Health & Safety Method Statements derived from Risk Assessments and all Health & Safety legislation appropriate to your post ensuring a duty of care towards colleagues, customers and the public
• Learn to work with power and hand tools, be able to work at heights either by ladder or scaffold when required, and in confined spaces and recognise and use any necessary safety equipment
• Undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the postholders supervisor
• Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as required by the host
• Promote continuous improvement and deliver and demonstrate high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards
Essential qualities
• Demonstrate a knowledge and interest in becoming a plumber
•Confident with technology and keen to learn more!
• Ability to identify specific colours particular to electrical wiring, such as earth bonding
•You'll need to be self-motivated and organised
• Ability to work under instruction from recognised Craftsperson
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to understand basic measurement and levelling (both vertical and horizontal)
• Ability to transform single dimension drawings to 3 dimensional structures
• Effective customer care skills
• Must have a keen interest in the construction industry
• Willing to work towards a Level 3 Qualification
•Ability to undertake any necessary travel in connection with the duties of this post
•Expectation to achieve a full driving license
•Ability to work on own initiative as an individual or as a team player
• Contribute to the development of good working relationships within the team
Qualifications Required
4x GCSE's Grade 4-9 (A* to C) including English, Maths and Science
Willingness to work towards an ECS card
Relevant information about the site
The successful candidate will work towards a Level 3 Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician qualification, which will take 48 months, plus a further End Point Assessment.
Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30 (with a 15:30 finish on a friday)
£222.92 per week (This is made up of the National Apprenticeship wage plus a £17 per week travel allowance)
